Created to deliver a bold and contemporary outdoor environment, this garden transformation focused on reshaping a challenging multi-level landscape into a series of visually connected spaces for entertaining, relaxation, and modern outdoor living. Through innovative landscape construction, architectural planting, and bespoke garden features, the finished design enhances both the functionality and visual impact of the property.
Following the completion of architectural plans to remodel the rear of the property, PC Landscapes was appointed to redesign the complex multi-level garden space between the house and swimming pool. The client’s brief was to create a landscape with the aim “to have high visual impact” while improving the flow and usability of the outdoor areas.
Inspired by the clients’ interest in sculpture and contemporary garden design, the landscaping scheme incorporated a series of bespoke raised planters across the new terraces, including a dedicated fire pit seating area designed for outdoor entertaining and relaxation. Structural planting and layered soft landscaping helped soften the architectural hard landscaping while introducing texture, depth, and seasonal interest throughout the garden.
To overcome the significant level changes without relying on extensive retaining walls, we developed an innovative connected planter system that acts as a mass-filled retaining structure across the landscape. This landscaping solution not only resolved the technical challenges of the site, but also delivered the striking visual impact the clients were looking for while bringing the planting closer to the upper terraces for greater interaction and enjoyment.

We also overcome the unsightliness of the existing pump house by lowering it and turning it into a bar table. Once completed, our clients will be able to enjoy uninterrupted views into the surrounding landscape, as well as have a more functional entertaining space.
The lower terrace sculpture will now be surrounded by a demicircle of wildflower meadow. This will provide a visual link between the surrounding fields and the new contemporary garden, as well as support more wildlife and further enhance the sculpture.
