TENNIS COURTS
A tennis court is a fantastic addition to your garden. Perfect for everything from competitive games to summer evening fun, it not only gives you instant access to exercise, but adds to the multi-purpose use of your garden and surrounding areas.
There are several things to consider if you’re planning to add a tennis court to your garden landscaping design:
Placement
Where will your tennis court go? We advise a north-south orientation, so players are never dazzled by direct sunlight. This also helps to ensure that the court isn’t covered by too much shadow.
EXISTING VEGETATION
While established trees and hedges will provide good screening, they may also create too much shade, and this can lead to moss growing on the court – particularly if it is a non-grass surface.
PLANNING
In some cases, you may need to seek planning permission to add a tennis court to your garden. If this is the case, we can support your application, showing how planting and screening will make the area attractive and unobtrusive.
lighting
If you want to play into the evening, you’ll need to install suitable lighting. We can help you specify this, and make sure it is within any planning or local neighbourhood restrictions.
screening
Many clients like their courts to have some sort of screening. We will suggest planting and other screening that helps your court to stay tucked away out of sight. We can easily integrate your court into the garden design – with a pergola walkway, for example, or a ‘secret’ path.
facilities
You might want to add changing rooms, showers, a sauna block or an associated seating area to your tennis court. We can design, build and install all these areas, so that you have the perfect place for play and relaxation.
Lawn or hard surface
There are a variety of surfaces available for modern tennis courts. A grass court, for example, will need to be well maintained during playing months, but can double as a formal lawn in winter.
If you have an existing tennis court, we can talk to you about refurbishment and redesign, or we can use the space to create a completely new garden feature.
