Expert Landscape Designers & Gardeners in Farnham, Surrey
Created to maximise the potential of a challenging sloping site, this award-winning garden transformation combines innovative landscape construction, architectural planting, and contemporary outdoor living features to deliver a series of striking and highly functional garden spaces. Through thoughtful design and careful material selection, the finished landscape provides year-round interest while strengthening the connection between the property and its surrounding environment.

We carried out the complete landscape design and build for this Farnham garden. The project involved removing an existing swimming pool and recontouring the sloping site, with all excavated soil retained and reused within the landscape to eliminate waste and reduce the environmental impact of the construction process.
The steep changes in level provided an opportunity to create an amphitheatre effect within the garden, allowing the planting to become a focal point when viewed from the lower terrace. By carefully reshaping the existing landform, we created a series of connected garden spaces that integrate naturally into the wider landscape while providing a strong visual impact throughout the site.
Material selection was an important part of the design. Sawn sandstone paving was chosen to complement the contemporary architecture of the property and contrast with the Corten steel retaining structures. Illuminated stairways with stainless steel louvred lighting create interest after dark and help guide movement through the garden.

Existing stone retaining walls were replaced with Corten steel to reduce excavation requirements while providing crisp definition between the lawns, borders, and terraces. A terraced gravel garden was also introduced alongside a Corten-clad reflective water feature positioned parallel to the house extension and roof garden.
As part of this Farnham landscaping project, we incorporated water harvesting, irrigation systems, specialist garden lighting, and architectural planting to create a landscape that is both functional and visually engaging throughout the year.
The garden was  featured in Alan Titchmarsh’s ITV Love Your Garden (you can read more here and here), and on At Home magazine.
