We were approached by a couple looking to transform the side garden of their recently purchased home into a more functional and visually engaging outdoor space. The existing garden layout felt disconnected, with a large brick wall separating the swimming pool from a lower-level hot tub area. Overgrown shrubs, tired paving, and limited usable entertaining space meant the garden no longer complemented the property or suited the clients’ lifestyle.

Our brief was to create a series of contemporary landscaped spaces that would improve the flow through the garden while providing dedicated areas for entertaining family and friends. To achieve this, we designed and installed a bespoke covered canopy incorporating a new Grillo BBQ area and outdoor kitchen positioned alongside a generous outdoor seating space. A Poggesi umbrella was carefully integrated to provide flexible shade without obstructing views across the newly opened lower garden. Removing the large brick wall helped create a stronger visual connection between the different levels of the landscape while making the garden feel more spacious and inviting.

The lower section of the garden was designed as an immersive retreat centred around a contemporary fire pit, creating a striking focal point within the planting scheme. Layered soft landscaping, subtle garden lighting, and illuminated wall art combine to create atmosphere and depth throughout the evening, transforming the space into a warm and relaxing setting for outdoor entertaining and family gatherings.
