Garden design services

A well-designed garden begins with understanding how it should feel, how it will be used and how it relates to the architecture of your home.

We consider the relationship between home and garden, including the available space, levels, existing features and important views. These insights inform a considered design that brings together layout, movement, materials and planting. Every detail is resolved for both its visual effect and practical execution, creating a clear, buildable plan for a garden that belongs to its setting and flows naturally from the interior.

Where the garden forms part of a wider renovation or extension, we establish professional partnerships with architects and property designers from the outset, allowing the house and landscape to be planned as one.

Your design process follows these stages:

1. Consultation

Every project begins with a private consultation at your home. We take time to understand how you want the garden to feel and function, its architectural context and your ambitions for the space.

We also make an informed initial assessment of the site, considering views, levels, access, drainage, existing features and longer-term opportunities. This early understanding allows us to identify possibilities, anticipate technical requirements and ensure the design develops with clarity and purpose from the outset.

2. Surveying and Topographical

A detailed understanding of the space is fundamental to successful garden design and landscape construction. Topographical, soil and other specialist surveys provide accurate information about levels, ground conditions, drainage, existing features and site constraints. This technical insight allows us to identify opportunities, resolve potential complexities early and develop a design that responds precisely to the landscape around your property.

3. Masterplan Concept

The landscape masterplan establishes a coherent vision for the entire garden, bringing together proportion, function, movement and the relationship with the house architecture. Site conditions and technical requirements are considered from this stage, ensuring the concept is both ambitious and buildable.

Entertaining areas, leisure features, planting and architectural elements are composed as one connected scheme. The result is a garden that flows naturally from inside your home, responds to its surroundings and provides a clear framework for the detailed design and construction that follow.

4. Technical and Detailed Design

At this stage, the masterplan is translated into the coordinated drawings and specifications needed for precise construction, including structural engineering requirements and utility works. Where required, this information can also support planning applications and the discharge of planning conditions.

Technical design can be commissioned independently to develop and prepare an existing garden design for construction. Through professional partnerships with garden designers, architects and property designers, our team protects the creative vision while resolving the practical details needed to deliver it successfully.

Lighting is considered as an integral part of the wider scheme, supporting atmosphere, security and ease of use while coordinating seamlessly with swimming pools, outdoor kitchens, tennis courts and other specialist features.

Planting and irrigation are planned together, with species selected for the garden’s setting and systems designed to support reliable, straightforward care. This allows the landscape to establish and thrive with less frequent intervention, including when clients are away from the property for extended periods.

5. Planting plan & planting schedule

Your planting plan identifies every tree, shrub, perennial and specimen plant selected for the garden, together with its botanical name, position, quantity and key specification details.

Each planting scheme is composed to balance structure, seasonal interest, biodiversity and ease of care, ensuring the garden remains engaging throughout the year. An accompanying schedule explains the benefits of each plant, as well as pricing and quantities needed.

6. Site coordination

Once the design and technical plans are approved, our experienced landscape construction team takes responsibility for delivering the garden.

We manage every aspect of the work on site, coordinating people, materials and progress to ensure the project is delivered as planned. You will have a consistent point of contact, clear updates and ready access to our team whenever you wish to discuss the build. This coordinated approach keeps the project moving smoothly while minimising disruption.
